Magnet Educational Choice Association to receive $20,000
March 11, 2022 — LOS ANGELES — Cetera, one of America’s largest networks of financial professionals, announced today that John Curran*, a financial professional with Cetera Investors, secured one of six grants awarded by the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation’s Grants for Good program. The Magnet Educational Choice Association (MECA) of Miami, FL received $20,000 in funding from Invest in Others for its Student Activity Trips. MECA was developed to fund work-based learning experiences for M-DCPS high school students by involving business, industry, and community leaders to share knowledge of career preparation, industry workforce trends, soft work skills with students through job shadow, mentoring, internships, industry student conference, etc.
“This grant will fund trips to the Federal Reserve and other important hands-on experiences that will help aspiring finance students learn and grow,” Curran said. “This underscores Cetera’s commitment to helping mold and train our future leaders of tomorrow today. Thank you to Invest in Others for awarding the grant – it means a lot to MECA and it will go a long way in advancing our mission.”
The Invest in Others Grants for Good Program was introduced in 2018 with the goal of providing funding to meet the critical needs of nonprofits and respond to challenges as they arise. Over 300 applications were submitted, and recipients were selected based on the impact the grant would have on the nonprofit and the community it serves.
