Los Angeles – Nearly four thousand financial advice professionals who gathered at Cetera’s second annual Connect conference, in Denver, combined with Cetera’s home office employees, raised funds for the Youth on Record organization through Caring Cetera, an advisor-founded charitable organization. The donation will fund Youth on Record’s Academic Success Program, which focuses on getting local, community musicians in high school classrooms to help improve student success and inspire growth.
Youth on Record opened the Cetera conference with a beautiful performance of the “Star-Spangled Banner” led by a beneficiary of the organization. Following fundraising efforts during the event, Cetera’s Chief Financial Officer Jeff Buchheister, with the help of the advisor-led Caring Cetera Committee that selected and championed this year’s cause, presented Youth on Record with a monetary donation at the final day of Connect19. They were joined on stage with the force behind Youth on Record’s vision: Jami Duffy, Executive Director; Andrea Viarrial-Murphy, Director of Visibility and Operations; and Stephen Bracket, Director of Special Programs.
Jami Duffy, said, “We are most grateful for the support of Cetera’s financial advice community. With their generous donation, Youth on Record’s program will continue to empower thousands of teens in some of Denver’s most vulnerable communities to make life choices that positively impact their future by teaching them to develop the coping tools and inspiration to succeed in today’s world and to become leaders of tomorrow.”
Caring Cetera was founded in 2011 with the purpose of aiding our advisor families during times of personal tragedy; responding to the disasters that occur in the communities in which our advisors practice; and to donate to local organizations in the cities we visit. Advisors and staff from the Cetera-branded firms, First Allied Securities and Summit Brokerage participate in Caring Cetera philanthropic and fundraising efforts year-round.
Jeff Buchheister, said, “It is an honor to be associated with the Caring Cetera community. Our approach to philanthropy around our marquee events is to give back to our host city by raising funds for a locally-based organization. We were proud to fundraise for Youth on Record this year, to help children and teens in the area through music: students who engage in music out-perform their peers in GPA, graduation rates & standardized tests.”
In 2019 Cetera advisors and employees are continuing a tradition of giving throughout the year, focusing on youth-based philanthropic organizations in their communities. Local efforts have supported the SIFMA stock market games in Los Angeles, Youth Emergency Children Services and Shelter in Des Moines, Feed My Starving Children in Schaumburg, Junior Achievement in Denver, United Way in Atlanta, and the San Diego LGBT Youth Center in San Diego; while Cetera network-wide efforts supported national organizations like Girls Inc.
At last year’s Connect18, Cetera was honored to support Soldier’s Angels in host city San Antonio, TX, by providing letters and care packages to those in active service as well as a $207,000 donation.
